CRUNCHING NUMBERS FOUR CYLINDER STYLE
Posted on: Tuesday April 11, 2023
When it comes to tracking four-cylinder dominance on northeastern Wisconsin dirt tracks in recent years one really comes up with a “mixed bag” of sorts when you start crunching the numbers.
A handful of tracks like Outagamie Speedway in Seymour and 141 Speedway in Francis Creek have been IMCA sanctioned with the sport compact class for the past several seasons.
Different monikers have been given to the class by each track. They’ve been called “Murder Hornets,” Four Bangers, Sport Compacts, Sizzlin’ 4s, Baby Bombers Four Cylinders and so on and so forth.
Often these guys and gals wait around to run their feature races at the end of the program.
A review last year of all time winners in 2022 revealed Nathan Lisowe of Luxemburg scored 11 feature wins at area ovals leading the way.
When it comes to all time IMCA sanctioned winners in Wisconsin, Chilton’s Shaun Bangart leads the way with 17 sanctioned wins. The current tie for second is between another Chilton racer Mitch Meier and Pulaski’s Matthew Brehmer with 12 sanctioned victories. Both Meier and Bangart have moved up to the bigger, full-sized racers to compete in.
