(EAGLE RIVER, WI) March 21 – Eagle River Speedway and officials from the Midwest Sprint Association (MSA) recently announced the winged sprint car series will make its first ever appearance at the third-mile, clay oval in northern Wisconsin on Saturday, July 29.

The “Saturday Night Special” marks the first ever appearance for the full-sized, winged sprint cars in track history. “With Plymouth running the night before and that Saturday date being open the show makes sense for us to give full sized sprint cars a try,” said track promoter Pat Zdroik. “It will certainly be an open-wheeled theme with the 300 and 600 micro sprints joining us along with the B modifieds. Escanaba Speedway is also off that night and with it being a Saturday night we’re hoping to pull some of those travelers over to see what we’re all about at Eagle River Speedway.”

Pit gates open at 3 p.m. July 29 with the grandstand opening at 4:30 p.m. The first green flag is set to fly at 6:30 p.m.

The first green flag flies for the 2023 season at the opener Sunday, May 28. After that weekly racing returns to their traditional Tuesday night venue beginning June 6.

The weekly divisions will once again consist of Chef Rene B modifieds, Sweetwater late models, Coffen Construction stock cars, Eagle River Dock and Lift street stocks, JD’s Paintball and Archery 600 micros and Dan’s Service/Halsey Fab 300 micros.

Guest appearances during the year will take place with the pure stocks, grand nationals and Dairyland Vintage Racing Series.
