ROOKIE PETERSON SHOCKS NORWAY SUPERS – MONDEIK SCORES 5TH LATE MODEL WIN

(Norway, MI) July 22 – Teenage rookie Lukas Peterson grabbed the lead in the early going and fought off current point leader Anthony Schiefelbein to score a popular super stock feature win at Norway Speedway Friday night.

The Marinette driver skillfully picked his way through lapped cars in the waning laps.

In late model action point leader Justin Mondeik of Gleason stormed past early race leader Gregg Haese of Manitowoc on the outside line on lap 18 and cruised to his fifth feature flag here of the season.

Early in the event a pair of contenders were knocked out after they collided in turn three – Braison Bennett and Will Timmers. The duo was scrapping for third and contact forced a yellow and the damage from both of their race cars was too significant to continue.

Kingsford’s Brad Barglind put a stomping on the sport truck field, winning the caution free feature by a half-lap margin over the rest of the field.

Norway’s Joe Ostermann executed a late, three wide pass for the lead on the final circuit to win the stock car feature.

Hermansville’s Dean Bellmore quickly sliced his way through the field and kept the lead through some late caution periods to pad his point lead in the 4 cylinder division.

Qualifying was not held tonight. Instead heat races were lined up through a point average invert.

Racing resumes next Friday night July 29 with the action getting underway at 7 p.m.
