By Edward Anschutz

(Seymour, WI) June 3, 2022- Outagamie Speedway Race Report- After getting passed on final lap last week, Ryan Schmidt used a late race restart to score his first win of the season in the IMCA Sport Mods. Other feature winners were (Modified) Mike Mullen, (Stock Car) Chase Parker, (Street Stock) Brooke Diefenthaler and (Sport Compacts) Jeremy Czarapata.

119 racers checked to do battle at Outagamie Speedway powered by EWSC. There were 24 IMCA Modifieds, 31 IMCA Stock Cars, 28 IMCA Sport Mods, 19 IMCA Sport Compacts and 17 Unified Street Stocks.

Jordan Jahnke paced the opening laps of the IMCA Sport Mod main until he encountered handling issues on lap 3, losing the lead to Tyler Sobiesczyk. Sobiesczyk sped away until a caution on lap 13. Once the race restarted it was Skyler Woods using the high groove to swipe the top spot from Sobieszczyk. Once again, the caution flew with 5 laps remaining. Defending Sport Mod champ Ryan Schmidt worked the low groove as Woods went up high. Schmidt was able to secure the top, holding off Woods to the checker. Woods was second, Tim Warner took third, Sobiesczyk placed fourth and after coming through a last chance qualifier Jeff Schmuhl completed the top five.

In IMCA Modified action it was Mike Mullen pulling to the lead from the drop of the green. Mullen set sail building up a straightaway advantage. This left the battle for second between Wyatt Block and Brian Mullen. Mike went unchallenged the remainder of the event to score a dominating win. Brian was able was to secure second, Johnny Whitman made a late race charge to place third, JJ Andersen took fourth and Lucas Lamberies rounded out the top five. The contest went green to checker.

Eric Mahlik looked to have his season back on track as he grabbed the lead in the IMCA Stock Car feature. Mahlik led all 20 laps and took the checkers first but his racecar failed post-race technical inspection, handing the win to Chase Parker. Dan Michonski rode the high side to place second, Josh Mroczkowski took third, despite bouncing off the wall on the final lap Brett Wenzel placed fourth and Chas Van Ooyen completed the top five.

Brooke Diefenthaler took the lead from TJ Everard on lap 7 and cruised to her first checkers of the season in the Unified Street Stocks. After starting 17th, Trey Van Straten rallied to take second, Everard was third, Jesse Krahn took fourth and Beau Schroder was fifth after going to the back early on.

Jeremy Czarapata scored a clean sweep in the IMCA Sport Compacts, winning the heat and feature. Cody Booth closed in late but had to settle for second, David Cox was third, last week’s winner Thomas Schulte took fourth and Matt Brehmer was fifth.
