LITTLE BUCKAROO JR MOTORSPORTS PARK LID LIFTER FRIDAY, MAY 20
(Racers from ages 6 to 60 battle in karts on Cecil dirt bullring)
The first green flag is set to fly in Cecil, Wisconsin (population 635) Friday, May 20 when Little Buckaroo Jr Motorsports Park kicks off it’s season of kart racing for 2022.
The track’s 15-date season schedule begins with Wisconsin Building Supply/Fairchild Equipment/Gehm’s Club 117 night after the planned opener a week ago on Friday the 13th was canceled due to Mother Nature.
The little bullring provides a little something for racers of all ages – spanning three different generations. With multiple classes running on the 1/8-mile oval, Little Buckaroo has been the training grounds for many a dirt and paved track stock car racer across Wisconsin.
“It’s a little gem of a track that’s for sure,” said track announcer Don Rouse. “It’s a real family-oriented deal and keeps getting better and better each year. It’s a fun place to be on Friday nights.”
Among the many racers who got their start at the Cecil track include NASCAR truck series star and multi-time ARCA Midwest Tour champion Ty Majeski of Seymour and local dirt track standouts Jason “The Weasel” Jach, Johnny Whitman, Jordan Bartz, Marcus Yarie, Jeffrey Teske, J.J. and Jerry Vander Loop and many more.
The divisions that compete run under the National Karting Association (NKA) banner. The different classes include a rookie box stock (ages 8 to 10), box stock (ages 8-12), Junior II (ages 10-12), Junior III (ages 12-15), Sportsman (ages 12 and up) and Animal Pro (ages 15 and up).
The track has a solid core of local teams and local businesses who support the Friday night venue. Gates open each night at 6 p.m. with the first green flag flying at 7 p.m. The track’s GPS address is W3981 Korth Road, Cecil, Wisconsin 54111. Go check out the future stock car racers of northeast Wisconsin as they turn their first laps on the local kart racing circuit.
