NORWAY SPEEDWAY’S STATELINE CHALLENGE TO PAY $5,000 IN ‘22

(39TH ANNUAL EVENT SLATED FOR JULY 1, 2022)

(Norway, MI) – Norway Speedway’s biggest race of the year just got even bigger for 2022.

Dickinson County Racing Association (DCRA) officials recently announced the 39th annual Stateline Challenge race scheduled for Friday, July 1, 2022 will pay $5,000 to the winner of the 100 lap super late model feature.  NASCAR truck champion Johnny Sauter will once again be on hand to compete with some of Wisconsin and Michigan’s top drivers.

Over the years Wisconsin visitors have recorded 26 Stateline challenge wins, with Gleason hotshoe Justin Mondeik capturing the last two events in ’20 and ’21.  Michigan drivers have found victory lane during this prestigious event 11 times.

Gleason, Wisconsin’s Justin Mondeik, shown here after an August 13 Auto Value series win, will attempt to win three straight Stateline Challenge Series races during the 39th running of the event at Norway Speedway July 1, 2022.

The 2022 version of the Stateline Challenge will be the highest paying the event has ever seen at the third-mile, paved oval located at the Dickinson County Fairgrounds near the Wisconsin/Michigan border.

The list of former winners of Norway Speedway’s Stateline Challenge reads like a “who’s who” of short track racers in the Midwest.

The first ever race was in 1981 and was won by short track legend Dick Trickle of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

The event is presented by Island Resort Casino, Coleman Racing Products and Aurora Liquors. The race also serves as the Kent Pearson Memorial.

The pit gates open at 9 a.m. Qualifying begins at 5:45 p.m. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.  Further details on this big race will be released in the coming months including what the race will pay to start. This will be a four tire show.
