LANTAGNE; WELLS & KOMP AMONG MULTIPLE FIRST TIME NORWAY SPEEDWAY FEATURE WINNERS
(Norway, MI) July 23 – It was a night of first time feature winners in Norway Speedway’s top divisions Friday night.
Vulcan’s Mike Lantagne scored his first career late model feature in his three-year career while Kingsford’s Jason Wells pulled off the same in the second late model feature.
Menominee veteran John Komp returned to victory lane in the super stock class after a several year hiatus, while Appleton, Wisconsin’s Wayne Sonkowsky put Greg Hauer’s station wagon into victory lane in the second super stock feature.
The first time winners didn’t stop there as Kingsford’s Brian Massicotte pulled off the same fete in the stock car feature. Massicotte fended off Todd Schmidt of Spread Eagle in the waning laps for the win.
Freedom’s Cody Vander Loop continued his hot streak. Hot off a feature win at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna the night prior, Vander Loop fought off a stiff challenge all race long from Florence’s Andy Secrist to win the sport truck feature.
Hermansville’s Cory Grondine chalked up the ‘W’ in the 4 banger feature – his first here of the season as well.
No qualifying was held in any of the classes and races were lined up by driver’s point averages.
Next Friday, July 30 the track will host the Ed Hedlund Memorial race with Fine Lines Painting & Drywall and Incredible Bank sponsoring the night’s action. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m.
