ZDROIK LEADS WIRE-TO-WIRE – DRAWS FIRST BLOOD IN EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY B MOD TRIPLE CROWN

(EAGLE RIVER, WI) June 22 –  Hometown driver Jason Zdroik dodged several caution periods and wound up leading wire-to-wire, winning Round One of the B Mod Triple Crown at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday night.

Zdroik received a $1,000 check for the victory.

Zdroik grabbed the lead from his pole position at the drop of the green in the 20-lap contest. The hometown racer quickly built up a four-car length lead over the balance of the field. Zdroik’s margin was erased when the caution flew on lap five for a Randy Theys spin in turn two.

On the restart Zdroik kept the top spot while Bruce Belland slipped inside of Josh Smith for the second spot.  Following another amber Zdroik kept the lead on the restart with 14 circuits remaining. A Matt Vandenlangenberg spin bunched up the field two laps later.

A pileup occurred on the ensuing restart attempt in corner four which sent the car of rookie Peter Paulus off on the hook.

When racing resumed with twelve laps remaining Smith and Belland applied the pressure to Zdroik with Smith riding the high line and Belland hugging the bottom in Zdroiks tire tracks. Zdroik was never headed and hung on for the win.

Belland took home second place money followed by Smith, Jesse Aho and Jamie Iverson who scored fifth in his first ever appearance at the D-shaped, third-mile clay oval.

Zdroik would follow up his B mod win with a last lap pass of Marinesco., Michigan’s Duane Dunbar to win the ERS late model feature to cap off the night.

Hometown driver David Blackberg snapped defending track champion Rod Snellenberger’s win streak by winning the caution free stock car feature. Snellenberger settled for second place money followed by Ryan Glembin, Jonathon Miller and Matt Cleary.
