ATTENTION SPORTS/MOTORSPORTS – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BIG CASH ON THE LINE FOR ERIC VAN ITEN MEMORIAL NIGHT AT ‘THE BURG’ JULY 18

($5,000-to-win in both IMCA modifieds, stock cars)

(Luxemburg, WI) – The Eric Van Iten Memorial Night set for Sunday, July 18 at The ‘Burg Speedway in Luxemburg, Wisconsin was already slated to be a fitting tribute to a beloved, long time, local racer who passed away in January after a battle with cancer.

Through the tireless efforts spearheaded by fellow racer, co-worker and one of Van Iten’s great friends Troy “Snoot” DeGrave the Sunday night special will be one for the history books at the third-mile, clay oval.

Thanks to numerous sponsors and donations from fans, crews, and fellow drivers, The ‘Burg Speedway will host one of the largest, single night shows in Wisconsin for 2021.  Headlining the action will be 25 lap features in both the IMCA Modified and Stock Cars classes. The feature winners in those respective divisions will take home the Lion’s share of a $35,000 purse with hefty $5,000 paydays.

Not to be forgotten are the IMCA Northern Sport Mod and Unified Dirt Street Stock classes with $1,000 on the line for the winner of each division feature.

In addition the evening will feature silent auctions, raffles, and a 50\50 drawing.  Benefits from those activities will be donated to one of Eric’s favorite charities, the Denmark chapter of Wings Over Wisconsin.

Anyone interested in contributing to the purse through sponsorship or donations can contact DeGrave at (920) 371 2679 or the track on how to get involved.  The track will also be accepting items for the silent auctions or as raffle prizes.

There has also been an account set up at Nicolet National Bank for anyone looking to donate to the drivers’ contingency fund.  Any branch will accept a deposit to the Eric Van Iten Memorial Race Fund.

The night will award state, regional, and national points but will not be a track points night.  Modified, Stock Car, and Sport Mod divisions will be IMCA sanctioned and follow all IMCA rules.  Street Stocks will be running under the Unified Dirt Street Stock rules package.

The format for the evening will be draw\redraw.  22 cars will qualify for the feature race in the Modifieds & Stock Cars with two additional drivers joining each field under a promoter’s choice for a pair of 24 car starting feature fields.

Pits open at 1:00 p.m. with the grandstand opening at 3 p.m. and racing at 5 p.m.

Pit and admission prices will remain the same as weekly shows. Mark your calendar now for Sunday July 18th as we gather to celebrate the memory of Eric Van Iten and realize the impact his life left behind on the racing community.
