The karting scenes at both GSR Kartway in Clintonville and Little Buckaroo Jr. Motorsports Park in Cecil are full of second and third generation racers.
Seven-year-old Kaleb Moeller is one of those racers.
Kaleb is the son of Freedom dirt late model racer Kurt Moeller. Kaleb has been tearing up both ovals in recent months – winning both heats and features at both ovals on Wednesday nights (GSR) and Sunday afternoons (Little Buckaroo).
Kaleb is in his 3rd year of racing. One of the best things both kart tracks have going for them is the Kiddie Kart rental program. Parents can rent karts and see if it’s something their young kids take an interest in, without a huge financial investment.
It was that Kiddie Kart gig three years ago that got it all started.
“Kaleb turned laps at GSR two days after he turned five in a Kiddie Kart,” said dad Kurt. “Kaleb ran that class for a season.”
For 2025, a new division called the R Box Wing was started at both ovals. The soon-to-be second grader began wheeling that machine at both tracks. The heat and feature wins soon followed.

One nice thing about the big wing is that it allows for many more opportunities for marketing partners. And, Kaleb has plenty of them. “The way these things are setup, you can get a little creative where you can put the decals on,” Kurt said.
Most parents these days have their seven-year-old kids chasing Little League baseball or soccer tournaments in the summer. Not the case with the Moeller family. “For me, I was never big into playing sports in high school when I was growing up,” Kurt Moeller said. “I always loved racing and was always involved in it. I grew up around the (Wayne) Roffers family, and basically grew up with Chad & Luke Roffers and M.J. Hintz. For me, selfishly enough I don’t want to be sitting at a baseball tournament all weekend. I thought if I could get Kaleb involved in something that I also like, and if it was something he could take a liking to, that would make for some fun days ahead for all of us.”
When asked what he loved most about racing the kart, Kaleb simply replied “I really like winning.” And, according to Kurt, Kaleb is learning to get more skin in the game as time goes on. “We give him little jobs to do,” Kurt explained. “I mean, he is seven, so his attention span changes throughout the day. But, if we give him a task like taking off his tires and washing them in the tire washer, he’s capable of doing that. He is in charge of keeping the trailer clean. He’s learning the general maintenance, and what all of the different tools are that we use. We try to teach him something new every time we are at the track or in the shop.”
One selling point with the R Box Wing class was the safety aspect for the Moeller’s. “The winged karts have a full containment seat, so it’s a bit safer down the road,” Kurt said. “As far as other maintenance, we perform alot of the same things we do with my own late model. We do a nut and bolt check on everything. Engine and tire maintenance. With the speeds these karts can carry, you want things to not only be safe, but keep the performance level high. We want to give Kaleb the chance to run consistent lines and you can do that when the kart is in tip top shape.”

Kaleb’s kart is filled with several heat and feature winner stickers.
Looking down the road, Kurt Moeller has plans for Kaleb if he continues to want to pursue this racing gig. “Our plan is if Kaleb continues to do what he’s doing, is to get him to test and practice is a USRA late model when he turns 12,” Moeller said. “That, with the support of Mike Seubert down the road. I know that’s a little premature, maybe. It’s a pipe dream or a goal of sorts.”
Assisting with Kaleb’s karting program is his brother – 19-year-old Parker.
Moeller’s team of marketing partners includes Autoworx, Hank Olson Construction, Tri-County Gymnastics & Cheer, Seubert Calf Ranches, Auto Select, Brad Mueller Racing Enterprises, S & A Photography, Wayne Roffers Trucking, Walker Performance Filtration, Pool Works Inc, RUSH Racewear by Austin Witt, Wisco Sips, Jerovetz Motorsports Shock Services, Fire & Industrial Response, White Glove Cleaning, Victory Sign, Grandma & Grandpa Stellmacher & Chad Roffers Trucking.
