Gleason, Wisconsin’s Justin Mondeik won the Auto Value Challenge late model feature at Norway Speedway August 13.

MONDEIK MUSCLES PAST STANCHINA, WINS NORWAY AUTO VALUE CHALLENGE

(Norway, MI) August 13 –  Gleason, Wisconsin’s Justin Mondeik muscled his way past Scott Stanchina for the lead on lap 36 an cruised to victory in the 50 lap Auto Value series late model feature at Norway Speedway Friday.

In the early going Stanchina swapped the lead with fellow front row starter Gregg Haese for the first several circuits. Mondeik started sixth on the grid and patiently bided his time, moving up to 3rd by lap 19. On lap 28 the caution flew after Braison Bennett cut a tire and spin in turn three, tightening the field.

On the restart Stanchina led, with Mondeik second and Dan Lindsley third. Mondeik took the lead with 14 laps remaining and was never headed, copping his third win here of the season and his 12th overall in ’21.

“Yeah I had to get a little bit physical a couple of times,” Mondeik confessed victory lane. “We love running up here at Norway and it’s a tight little racetrack.”

Hometown driver Joey Pontbriand posted his seventh feature win of the season here in the super stocks. The current point leader whisked past Andy Casavant for the lead with 15 circuits to go. Pontbriand padded his point lead with the victory.

Kingsford rookie Zackery Krans scored his first feature flag of the year in the stock car class while Hermansville’s Brent Ayotte emerged triumphant in the 4 bangers.

Racing resumes next Friday, August 20 as Timber Products of Iron Mountain sponsors the evening’s entertainment.  It will be 4 Banger Frenzy night as the 4 cylinders get their night to shine in the spotlight.

The action gets underway at 7 p.m.
